LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky graphics department was busy Tuesday morning as official scholarship offers were sent out to a wave of 2018 prospects.
Long-time commits like quarterback Jarren Williams and linebacker Alex Reigelsperger received their offers as well as a few prospects who the Wildcats aren’t a favorite for, like Auburn running back commit Shaun Shivers.
Aug. 1 is the first day an offer is considered legitimate, per NCAA rules.
“Prior to August 1 of a prospective student-athlete’s senior year in high school, an institution shall not provide a written offer of athletically-related financial aid or indicate in writing to the prospective student-athlete that an athletically-related grant-in-aid will be offered by the institution,” the rule states.
Kentucky’s offers address each individual prospect in a letter signed by coach Mark Stoops.
“We have completed a thorough evaluation of you as a student-athlete,” the offer reads. “We sincerely believe that you possess the talent necessary to succeed on the football field and in the classroom.”
The full scholarship includes tuition, fees, books, room and board and the full cost of attendance.
