Kentucky guard Dominique Hawkins breaks hand, will miss four weeks
Kentucky’s Dominique Hawkins could miss the start of the season after breaking a bone in his hand.
The junior guard will undergo surgery on Tuesday and miss approximately four weeks, according to a UK press release. The Wildcats begin their regular season Nov. 13 vs. Albany.
Hawkins averaged 1.3 points in 23 games during 2014-2015, and is expected to contribute in coach John Calipari’s rotation this winter.
“I really feel bad to have to report this because Dom was playing so well,” Calipari said. “He was so much more confident, so much more skilled. There was no doubt he was in the rotation, and now he’s just got to get back and stay in shape. We’re looking forward to getting him back in November.”
Kentucky officially opens its calendar with the Blue-White Scrimmage on Oct. 27 at Rupp Arena.
