We issued a false alarm earlier this month when Kentucky opened as an underdog to Arkansas.
The Wildcats had not been in such a position since a Sweet 16 matchup against Louisville on March 28, 2014. But money quickly swung the line in favor of Kentucky, so the streak officially lived on.
Saturday, it dies — for real this time.
No. 20 Kentucky opened as a 5-point underdog to No. 4 Kansas, a line that’s currently holding position in many books (according to VegasInsider.com). That means a lengthy run will be halted when the ‘Cats and Jayhawks tip off in Lawrence, Kan.
Using VegasInsider.com’s odds, John Calipari’s squad finished the 2014 tournament as favorites in three straight, was favored to win every single game of a 38-1 campaign last season and played the favorite in each of its first 20 games in 2015-2016. If you’re counting, that’s 62 straight contests.
Kentucky-Kansas tips off Saturday at 7 p.m. ET (ESPN).
