Kentucky linebacker/defensive end Jason Hatcher was arrested early Monday morning on multiple drug charges, according to Jon Hale of the Louisville Courier-Journal.
UPDATE: Wildcats coach Mark Stoops has dismissed Hatcher from the team.
“Jason Hatcher, a defensive end/linebacker on the University of Kentucky football team, has been dismissed for violation of team rules, Coach Mark Stoops has announced,” the school said in a press release Monday. “UK has no additional comment.”
Hatcher’s charges include speeding, trafficking in marijuana (eight ounces to less than five pounds), tampering with physical evidence and buy/possession of drug paraphernalia, according the the Franklin County Regional Jail’s website.
The 6-foot-3, 252-pound rising senior was suspended for the first two games last season for an undisclosed violation of team rules. He was also cited for possession of marijuana in May 2014, but the charge was later dismissed.
Hatcher totaled 39 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, two sacks and three pass breakups in nine games in 2015 for the Wildcats.
