It’s no “Big Bertha” but it’s certainly more high-tech.
According to Beth Musgrave of the Lexington Herald-Leader, Kentucky is going to have a lot of name suggestions to sift through, as she reports the university has received more than 2,000 entries to name the 27-foot tall scoreboard.
Rupp Arena underwent a $15-million technology overhaul that included the new unnamed scoreboard, new ribbon-boards, a new sound system and more LCD screens.
The winner of the naming contest for the new scoreboard will receive two lower-level tickets to every event at Rupp Arena in 2017 and a tour for 10 in the Kentucky men’s basketball team’s locker room. The contest closes Nov. 14 with the winner being announced at Kentucky’s game against UCLA on Dec. 3.
