Kentucky simulating cowbells in practice to prepare for Miss. St.
Kentucky (4-2, 2-2 SEC) faces a tough opponent on Saturday in Mississippi State (5-2, 1-2), but may face an even greater challenge from the Bulldogs’ fans.
Mississippi State recently set a new Guinness World Record for most cowbells rung in one place before a Week 2 matchup against LSU.
Playing in that type of atmosphere can be difficult for any team, but Kentucky offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson said after practice Tuesday that his team was preparing for the noise.
“We’re doing some stuff with cowbells,” Dawson answered when asked if his team was piping in simulated cowbell noise.
He then added, presumably about the constant cowbell ringing: “I’m about to kill myself.”
Kentucky and Mississippi State will kickoff at 7:30 p.m. ET, and the game can be seen on the SEC Network.
UPDATE: Wildcats coach Mark Stoops later denied the fact that the Wildcats were piping in cowbell noise into practice during Wednesday’s SEC teleconference.
