Kentucky QB Stephen Johnson earned some points among Wildcat fans on Friday, and he probably gained some more enemies at Louisville as well.
Johnson made an appearance on The Paul Finebaum Show on SEC Network. During the segment, Johnson went “L’s Down,” the classic sign of disrespect toward the Cardinals. And the fans watching at Rupp Arena loved it.

Johnson earned the right to do that, to be sure. Against Louisville in November, he played one of his best games of the season to lead the Wildcats to a 41-38 win. He completed 16 of 27 passes for 338 yards with three touchdowns and an interception. He also led Kentucky with 83 rushing yards in that game. It was the Wildcats’ first victory over their in-state rivals since a 23-16 win in 2010.
The junior quarterback told Finebaum that beating the Cardinals and Heisman-winning QB Lamar Jackson was a big moment for the Wildcats. He also said the result gave them some momentum heading into 2017.
And if the Wildcats hand Louisville another “L” in 2017, he’ll be able to put the “L” down again.
Kentucky football is scheduled to play Louisville at home on Nov. 25 this season.
