FINAL: Kentucky 103, Thomas More 61
Kevin Knox was the player of the game for Kentucky. He had 27 points on 8 of 12 shooting. Knox was a perfect 10 for 10 from the foul line.
2:23 2H: Kentucky 99, Thomas Moore 59
Wenyen Gabriel has a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Knox is up to 27 points including a 10 for 10 mark from the free throw line. The reserves are coming in for the Cats.
7:55 2H: Kentucky 83, Thomas More 47
Kentucky is running. Thomas More can’t keep up. The Cats have outscored the Saints 24-2 in fast break points.
11:08 2H: Kentucky 75, Thomas More 45
Knox is putting on a show. He leads all scorers with 21 points on 6 of 8 shooting. He’s 8 of 8 from the free throw line and just hit his first 3-pointer of the night. Brad Calipari recently checked into the game, a move well received by the fans. Kentucky is shooting 54 percent from the field and has held Thomas More to 29 percent.
15:36 2H: Kentucky 64, Thomas More 37
How’s this for efficiency? Kevin Knox has 18 points on seven shots. That’s what happens when you’re 8 of 8 from the free throw line. Kentucky is 18 for 22 as a team on free throws.
16:47 2H: Kentucky 60, Thomas More 34
Diallo finished with an alley-oop dunk and a transition layup just before Thomas More called a timeout. He has 10 points tonight on 5 of 10 shooting. Kentucky is on a 7-0 run after Thomas More scored the first four points of the second half. Kentucky has a 16-2 advantage in fast break points.
HALFTIME: Kentucky 53, Thomas More 30
Last year it was clear Kentucky had two elite scorers in De’Aaron Fox and Malik Monk. It’s just a one-game exhibition sample size, but some of the lineup pairings didn’t have a go-to scorer. That stuff will get sorted out as the season goes on. As of now, Kevin Knox looks to be the go-to guy. He leads the team with 14 points on 4 of 6 shooting.
3:29 1H: Kentucky 45, Thomas More 24
Gilgeous-Alexander and Green shared the backcourt for the last stretch. The thing that stands out is Gilgeous-Alexander’s length and disruptive nature on defense. He’s going to be quite annoying for opposing point guards to face. Oh, Kentucky’s Nick Richards has four fouls in the first half. He’s bigger than everybody else, and so far he hasn’t been able to defend without fouling.
8:00 1H: Kentucky 36, Thomas More 19
Dunks, dunks and dunks for Kentucky. The Cats are on an 11-0 run and it’s been fueled by easy buckets. Hamidou Diallo, Kevin Knox and PJ Washington have 8 points each to lead the scoring. Kentucky is shooting 56 percent from the floor.
10:12 1H: Kentucky 28, Thomas More 19
This game is only 10 minutes old and 19 fouls have already been called. Not fun.
11:56 1H: Kentucky 23, Thomas More 11
There are no foul-outs in this exhibition game, and it’s a good thing for both teams. Kentucky and Thomas More both have eight fouls in the early going. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is being active on defense and the Cats are just way too long for Thomas More to contend with. It took the Saints 6:30 of game time to pick up their first rebound. The many whistles have really interrupted the flow.
15:39 1H: Kentucky 13, Thomas More 6
Quade Green hit back-to-back 3-pointers for the Cats and he leads all scorers with six points. A few notes: Nick Richards was assessed an early technical, Wenyen Gabriel was Kentucky’s first man off the bench and, to no surprise, Kentucky has a significant height advantage.
Kentucky starters: Quade Green, Hamidou Diallo, Kevin Knox, PJ Washington, Nick Richards
