On this edition of Wildcat Country, host Curtis Burch is joined by SEC Country columnist Kyle Tucker. Both were at Big Blue Madness, and they discuss the event. While those two were the stars, there was a gentleman named Drake who also caused quite a stir. Burch and Tucker also rate Kentucky women’s coach Matthew Mitchell’s dance moves.
Kyle discussed the “Blue” Carpet and what the current players had to say as they walked into Rupp Arena. Plus, there were also some very special visitors who watched as UK’s current team entered the arena to the cheering of fans.
Kentucky coach John Calipari gave his state of the program speech and it was very similar to those he has given in the past. He did get a chance to weave in the fact that John Wall was inducted into the Kentucky Athletics Hall of Fame and the fact that three more former players — Malik Monk, De’Aaron Fox and Bam Adebayo — were drafted in the NBA draft lottery.
There was not much to take away from the scrimmage because there was very little, if any, defense played. The guys discussed what stood out from seeing the players on the floor, specifically Nick Richards and Wenyen Gabriel.
The podcast wrapped up with some SEC East football talk. How long will Butch Jones last at Tennessee? What has happened to Vanderbilt? Maybe Missouri isn’t that terrible and Georgia is still good. And what does all this mean for the Kentucky football team?
