Kentucky football coach Mark Stoops spoke again to the media Monday and talked more about the loss to Mississippi State and previewed the game against Tennessee. Curtis Burch and Joe Mussatto break down what he said on this edition of Wildcat Country. Catch up on the presser here.
A big topic of conversation after UK’s loss was some social media posts made by players. Joe broke it down with the quotes and tweets from players and Mark Stoops’ response. There seems to be very little gained from these posts and it was odd some were directed at a former player.
There was some a shake-up the depth chart. The guys discuss what that means for Kentucky, and the possible reason for the change.
Stoops also discussed his team’s “football IQ” and the need to win more competitive plays. What exactly does that exactly mean? The guys theorize what those two things mean for a team that is about to face off against Tennessee in an important bounce back game.
The phrase “outcoached” was used again by Stoops after the Mississippi State game. Many fans don’t understand exactly what that means. The guys discuss how they interpret it and Curtis makes a prediction about that phrase going forward.
The Kentucky coach was very complimentary to the Tennessee team and addressed Butch Jones specifically. Jones has been under a lot of scrutiny and his potential firing has been widely discussed. Stoops was sympathetic toward Jones and talked about the fraternity of coaches in the SEC.
The podcast wrapped up with a quick discussion of the NBA — and Eric Bledsoe specifically. If you hadn’t heard, the former Kentucky guard basically demanded to be traded. The Phoenix Suns appear to be honoring that request.
