After some initial confusion, the two-week timetable on Alex Poythress’ return to the Kentucky lineup appears to be solid.
The senior is expected to be back at 100 percent soon, according to a tweet from the Louisville Courier-Journal’s Kyle Tucker.
“Hearing that Alex Poythress is looking better and better and on track to return for Kentucky next week,” he wrote.
The Wildcats staff initially projected Poythress’ right knee issue as a “day-to-day” problem, then announced he would play last week before reversing course and deciding he would need a couple weeks to rest.
Whatever happens, coach John Calipari is not worried.
“He did some stuff yesterday,” Calipari said Wednesday afternoon. “I don’t know, you’d have to talk to (trainer) Chris (Simmons). When a guy gets hurt for me, sometimes I forget their name. I’m, like, focused on the guys that are playing.”
Kentucky hosts Tennessee at Rupp Arena on Thursday night (7 p.m. ET, ESPN).
