Kentucky kicker Austin MacGinnis is a hero around Lexington right now after kicking the game-winning field goal to lift the Wildcats to a 40-38 win over Mississippi State on Saturday.
Two days after the kick, MacGinnis told Dari Nowkhah of the SEC Network what exactly was running through his mind as he kicked the clutch field goal.

MacGinnis said, “I just really wanted the chance to go out there and give it a go, so I was really happy when they got it into field goal range for me. I knew it was go time. I hit a couple more balls into my kicking net and just went out there and executed.”
The kicker, who added that he would’ve felt comfortable from 55 yards on Saturday, has made 9 of his 11 field goal attempts so far in 2016.
