LEXINGTON, Ky. — C.J. Conrad leads the team in touchdown receptions, is second in catches and now the Kentucky sophomore tight end is one of 30 players on the midseason watch list for the John Mackey Award.
The Mackey Award is presented each year to the nation’s top tight end. Conrad was named the Mackey tight end of the week earlier this season against New Mexico State when he hauled in three touchdowns and 133 yards. That game has accounted for all of Conrad’s touchdowns and all but 36 of his receiving yards.
Former Arkansas TE Hunter Henry was the 2015 recipient of the John Mackey Award. The semifinalists for the award will be announced Nov. 14.
Kentucky (3-3, 2-2 SEC) is off Saturday before hosting Mississippi State at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 22 at Commonwealth Stadium.
