Kentucky coach John Calipari expects star guard Jamal Murray to play Saturday at South Carolina despite a knee injury that kept the freshman out of practice on Thursday.
Murray, who’s averaging 29.5 points and seven 3-pointers over the past two games, “bumped knees” with a Georgia player during Tuesday’s blowout, according to Calipari.
Is he good to go?
“I would hope so, yeah,” Calipari said Friday afternoon. “I think he’ll practice today.”
Wildcats fans should be wary of Murray’s health; The team labeled senior Alex Poythress as “day-to-day” before falsely announcing he was ready to play Tuesday. After the forward didn’t suit up, Kentucky reversed course and said he would miss two more weeks of action.
Calipari’s team travels to South Carolina this weekend, where it will attempt to climb atop the SEC standings on Saturday (noon ET, ESPN).
