With the 2016 NBA Draft just days away, there seems to be new storylines every hour.
In his latest mock draft, noted ESPN NBA insider Chad Ford placed former Kentucky guard Tyler Ulis outside of the first round.
Ulis’ stock has fluctuated in the months leading up to next week’s draft. Some viewed the dynamic guard as a lottery pick, while others had him pegged in the latter-half of the first round. A recent hip injury may have done some damage to the prospect’s hopes, however.
Earlier this week, reports surfaced that Ulis may have a “significant hip issue.” The timing of the news could not have been worse for Ulis, who averaged 17.3 points and seven assists per game during his sophomore season at Kentucky.
It soon will be known whether or not a team will take a chance on the 5-foot-9 guard in the first round, or if Ford’s projection will come true and the injury will cause Ulis to slide.
Here are where some other notable SEC players will land, according to Ford.
Pick No. 1 (Philadelphia 76ers): Ben Simmons, LSU
Pick No. 6 (New Orleans Pelicans): Jamal Murray, Kentucky
Pick No. 11 (Orlando Magic): Skal Labissiere, Kentucky
Pick No. 14 (Chicago Bulls): Wade Baldwin IV, Vanderbilt
Pick No. 30 (Golden State Warriors): Damian Jones, Vanderbilt
