Lavar Ball, the father of UCLA superstar freshman Lonzo — who is facing off against Kentucky tonight — has been in the headlines repeatedly over the past couple of weeks. From claiming he could beat Michael Jordan one-on-one to claiming that he wanted a billion dollar shoe deal for his sons, America has quickly become acquainted with Ball’s outrageous claims.
Those claims have rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. Included in that group is ESPN football commentator Kirk Herbstreit, who called Lavar Ball’s appearance on ESPN ‘sad’ on Thursday. Now with the much anticipated Kentucky-UCLA matchup underway, Herbstreit is not backing off of that criticism:
I have never cheered so hard for @KentuckyMBB before in my life. Anything to make it go awayyyyy. Go Cats!!!

With Kentucky up late in the second half, Herbstreit — and Wildcat fans everywhere — are in line to see those dreams come true. Be careful what
Be careful what you wish for, however: Lonzo is just the first of three Ball sons committed to play at UCLA.
