One of De’Aaron Fox’s goals at Kentucky was to ”shut LaVar Ball up.” It’s becoming clear that’s unlikely to happen. Despite scoring 39 points in a Sweet 16 win over Lonzo Ball and UCLA, the polarizing figure continues to make comments about the No. 5 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.
Ball didn’t take too kindly to the speculation that Lonzo missed the Lakers’ Monday’s summer league contest vs. the Kings not just because of a groin injury but instead also due to the fact he was avoiding playing vs. Fox.
“Duck De’Aaron Fox? Have you heard about De’Aaron Fox? Hell nah. You can’t hear about him unless he puts my boy’s name in his mouth. He been doing all this stuff and ain’t nobody been talking about him. So he and his dad gotta link themselves to us to be relevant. De’Aaron Fox had a whole season and the only thing they talk about is 39 points against Zo. You don’t put Zo in a sentence, nobody cares about him,” LaVar said on Sunday.
Ball went a step further, mocking Fox’s play against Lonzo’s fill-in.
“And the little white guy, what’s his name, [Lakers guard Alex] Caruso, gave him a tailwhipping. Let’s put that one out there. That boy outplayed him all day. All day,” LaVar said.
Ball’s comments come on the heels of Fox tweeting out an awesome emoji to sum up his feelings on the decision.
Earlier this year, De’Aaron Fox’s dad roasted Ball, stating that ”My son already ate his ass up twice”.
Ball recently boasted that he and his son LaMelo would ‘kill’ Shaquille O’Neal and his son Shareef in a game of 2-on-2.
