It would be a huge surprise if Kentucky made the College Football Playoff in 2017.
Even though the Wildcats ended a run of six consecutive losing seasons last year, they are nowhere near the conversation of national championship contenders, especially considering they’re in the same conference as powerhouse Alabama.
But that isn’t stopping Kentucky players from having high aspirations.
As shown in a picture tweeted by ESPN’s Rece Davis, the Wildcats have an interesting banner hanging in the weight room at their athletic facility. It shows a bracket for the College Football Playoff, and only one team is written in — Kentucky.

The Wildcats would need more improvement if they wanted to make their banner become a reality. They went 7-5 in 2016, but haven’t made a bowl game since 2010. They haven’t won a bowl game 2008, and haven’t lost fewer than five games in a season since 1984 when they went 9-3.
It’s been basketball that’s reigned supreme on Kentucky’s campus. The Wildcats’ hoops squad is always a national contender.
Kentucky football wants to reach that level as well, as evidenced by its wall decor.
