Kentucky has dismissed backup defensive back Marcus Walker less than one week after he was arrested on drug charges, the school announced on Tuesday.
Walker was arrested for drug trafficking charges last week near the University of Kentucky campus and faces three charges — buying or possessing drug paraphernalia, trafficking less than 5 pounds of marijuana and trafficking a controlled substance, which is less than or equal to 4 grams of cocaine, according to public records of police bookings from the Fayette County Police in Lexington, Ky.
Walker rated as a 3-star prospect and was ranked as the No. 23 safety, No. 59 player from the state of Florida and the No. 400 overall prospect for the 2015 national recruiting cycle, according to the 247Sports composite.
The Lake Wales, Fla., native appeared in 12 games for the Wildcats special teams in 2017, but has received limited reps on Kentucky’s defense during his college career. He recorded 5 tackles as a sophomore last season.
