Penny Hardaway knows a thing or two about basketball, given his time in both the NBA, where he was a star for the Orlando Magic, and as a coach at the high school level. And he dropped a very strong comparison for Kentucky target Zion Williamson.
Williamson, who is a top Kentucky target, is a high school basketball phenom and internet superstar. He’s become famous for his vicious dunks, which have greatly helped build his profile.
He’s the No. 2 player in the 2018 class, Kentucky is very much in on him. And Hardaway compared Williamson’s game to an SEC legend.
“He has a lot of Charles Barkely in him,” Hardaway said to SB Nation‘s Ricky O’Donnell. “He has a lot more athleticism on the court than Charles did, but his mannerisms on the court are similar.”
Barkley was an incredible rebounder, especially for his size and he is easily one of the greatest NBA players of all time. If Williamson can live up to that lofty comparison, and pick the Wildcats, he should make Kentucky fans very happy.
The Wildcats begin their 2017-18 season against Utah Valley on Nov. 10. The Wildcats are also a finalist for R.J. Barrett, who is the No. 1 player in the 2018 class.
