The Kentucky Wildcats received some bad news on Sunday.
Kobe Smith, a 3-star defensive tackle from Archer High School (Lawrenceville, Ga.), has de-committed from Kentucky just weeks before he was set to enroll early at the university, according to Rivals’ Woody Wommack.
The 6-foot-4, 295-pounder had been committed to the Wildcats since July after originally de-committing from North Carolina State earlier in the month. Smith has 18 reported offers, including Arkansas, Louisville, Miami, Mississippi State and Tennessee, among others. Kentucky holds commitments from two other defensive tackle recruits in 3-stars Kordell Looney and JaQuize Cross, but Smith was the highest rated of the three.
Smith is rated as the No. 45 defensive tackle in the nation and No. 53 player in Georgia.
