Kentucky coach Mark Stoops has reached out to former NFL safety Ed Reed to inquire about the Wildcats’ opening on their defensive staff, according to Jon Hale of the Louisville Courier-Journal.
There was some speculation on Twitter that Reed could be a candidate to replace Derrick Ansley, who recently took a job at Alabama, as the Kentucky defensive backs coach. Reed, currently an assistant defensive backs coach with the Buffalo Bills, said he was not interested in the opening, per the report.
The connection between Reed and Kentucky comes from the future NFL Hall of Fame member’s relationship with Stoops, who coached Reed during his last season at Miami before beginning his professional career.
For now, Kentucky’s search for a new defensive backs coach continues.
