Kentucky fans have long been known for their passion and loyalty to their team, but some members of Big Blue Nation have taken things too far over the past few days. First, after feeling that he had made some unfair calls against their team in Kentucky’s Elite Eight loss to North Carolina, some fans went and took their frustration with referee John Higgins out on his company’s Facebook page.
Unfortunately, it appears that the harassment did not stop there. According to ESPN’s Jeff Goodman and Dana O’Neil, Higgins had to recently meet with law enforcement officials after receiving numerous death threats in the wake of Sunday’s game.
Despite the incident, Higgins, one of the most recognizable and experience officials in the industry, will be in Phoenix this weekend to work his seventh Final Four. His crew called just one more foul on Kentucky than North Carolina during the game in question.
