Shaquille O’Neal spent three seasons at LSU before turning pro and going on to be elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Just don’t expect to see O’Neal’s son, Shareef, a four-star prospect in the Class of 2018, follow in his father’s footsteps and attend LSU.
The 6-foot-9, 204-pound prospect from Los Angeles’ Windward School is ranked as the No. 38 player nationally, and his dad has reportedly instructed him to consider another SEC school.
“My dad actually wants me to lean towards Kentucky,” Shareef O’Neal told Sean Scherer of 247Sports. “He has a good friendship with the coach there. I know a lot about that school because a lot of kids dream about going there. I like their style of play.”
On the latest episode of his podcast, The Big Podcast with Shaq, Shaquille O’Neal said his son has mentioned Kentucky, Michigan State and Duke on his early college search.
