John Calipari’s son Brad is playing basketball for Kentucky this season under his dad as a walk-on. He had received interest from some lower tier division I programs, but decided to keep it in the family.
It’s not easy being the coach’s son, but the two got to share a joyous moment together Sunday night when Brad scored and had a four-point play against Division II Clarion.
He’s not afraid, he’s competing and that’s all I want,” John Calipari said in his interview on the SEC Network. “He works harder than anybody if not harder. He just knows he has to and he knows he’s not going to play that much.
For any of us that are parents, you know I’m a father first…I’m happy he’s on the team, I’m going to have fun coaching him.”
Brad has spent the last two seasons playing at The MacDuffie School in Massachusetts, but given the immense amount of talent for the Wildcats, his playing time will be slim to none for most of the season. At least for one night, even if Calipari didn’t have an immediate reaction, they got to share a moment together on the court.
