LEXINGTON, Ky. – NBA Rookie of the Year Karl-Anthony Towns was back at the University of Kentucky on Wednesday for a youth basketball camp. At another recent instructional stop, Towns infamously dunked on a poor young camper. He explained Wednesday.
“I look back at it now and maybe I went in too aggressive,” Towns said. But “he was smiling and he was happy. I don’t think anything bad can be taken from the kid, because I’m an NBA player and he’s still a kid. It’s not like he’s supposed to jump up and block it.”
Ever the thoughtful professional, Towns was just happy to have taught the youngster a lesson.
“I think what the kid learned was always be humble,” he said with a straight face. “That was a great chance for me to instill a good moral value.”
