Wife of Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall escorted out of arena after loss to Kentucky
Despite its 30 regular-season wins, Wichita State found itself seriously under-seeded as a No. 10 seed. As a result, it had to play No. 2 seed Kentucky in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday.
While the Shockers were nearly able to pull off the upset, they ultimately fell to the Wildcats, 65-62, after having two late 3-point attempts blocked. Some fans obviously took the loss hard, but then there was Lynn Marshall, wife of Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall.
According to the Associated Press, Marshall’s wife was escorted out of the lower bowl of Bankers Life Fieldhouse by a security guard after the conclusion of the game. Per the report, security escorted Marshall after she started screaming obscenities after the loss. Eventually, police were called to escort her up the steps before she was taken down to the court level where Marshall was conducting his press conference.
According to an NCAA spokesman, it is standard procedure for the wife of a coach to be escorted down to the press conference, but it is usually done by a team official.
Several media members who were in attendance, including SEC Country’s Kyle Tucker, tweeted that this was just the culmination of behavior by Marshall’s wife during the game. Tucker tweeted that she had “multiple visits” from security during the game.
She was a MESS today. Multiple visits from security during the game. At one point nearly toppled over the railing into press row. Great look https://t.co/Tv8jSV4GOV

Wichita State made headlines for talking before the game, too, after the Shockers made some comments about the Wildcats and freshman Bam Adebayo.
