Georgia center Drew Bobo left Saturday’s game against Mississippi State with a hand injury. With a massive SEC matchup against Texas set for this weekend, many fans were left wondering if the Bulldogs could be without a key player on the offensive line.
During his weekly press conference, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart was asked about Bobo’s status this weekend.
“Drew had a pretty bad laceration on his finger,” Smart said. “He’s patched up and ready to go. He’ll practice today. Lawson is doing well and think he’s going to make a good, quick turn, but we’ll see.”
Bobo has been a key player for Georgia’s offense, starting in all nine games this season. He was named the Outland Trophy National Player of the Week after Georgia’s win over Tennessee earlier this year. It’s been a breakout season for the redshirt junior after starting two games last season while Jared Wilson was sidelined with an injury.
Bobo has played over 600 snaps for the Bulldogs this season, allowing zero sacks and only four pressures. He’s one of two offensive linemen to start every game this season for the Bulldogs. He entered the season on the preseason watch list for the Remington Trophy, along with earning preseason All-SEC honors from Athlon Sports.
Georgia will continue to prepare for a massive Top 25 SEC matchup against No. 11 Texas. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
The Bulldogs are currently 6.5-point favorites over the Longhorns, according to ESPN BET.
