After having five players named to the Coaches’ All-SEC Team earlier this week, LSU had three more players named to the SEC Coaches All-Freshman Team, the league announced Thursday.
Offensive lineman William Clapp, running back Derrius Guice and defensive lineman Arden Key were selected.
Following a redshirt season in 2014, Clapp stepped in and started every game at guard for the Tigers.
Guice was stuck behind star running back Leonard Fournette on the depth chart, but that didn’t keep the freshman from making an early impact. Guice totaled 397 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 47 carries (8.45 yards per carry). His 161-yard performance against South Carolina was the sixth-best by a true freshman in LSU history and was the most since Justin Vincent had 201 yards against UGA in the SEC Championship in 2003.
Key, who started in eight games this season, proved to be a very disruptive player. The freshman totaled 38 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, five sacks and nine quarterback hurries.
