Two days after news broke of a sexual-assault investigation into LSU linebacker Jacob Phillips, the Baton Rouge Police Department on Wednesday reportedly issued a statement explaining why it made no arrests and filed no charges.
“Due to several inconsistencies in the victim’s narrative/disclosures and a lack of cooperation concerning evidence and further interview there was no probable cause for arrest found at this time,” Sgt. L’Jean McKneely told TMZ.
TMZ also filed the initial report Monday, stating a female LSU student-athlete filed a police report alleging Phillips sexually assaulted her in June.
Phillips, who will be a freshman for the Tigers this season, denied the allegations.
