LSU’s attending veterinarian has identified a “possible” candidate for of Mike VII, according to a press release issued by LSU.
The Tiger is currently nine months old and weighs 160 pounds, according to the release. The current plan is to have a new tiger in LSU’s newly-updated tiger habitat by “mid-August.”
The potential Mike VII currently resides at a sanctuary formerly known as “Animal Adventures” in Okeechobee, Florida, according to the release.
He is in need of a new home and is being donated to the university. LSU has not purchased a tiger since 1958, per the release.
Mike VII’s home debut would come on Sept. 9 as LSU faces Chattanooga.
