LSU’s big recruiting Saturday yielded a major in-state visitor in the form of John Emery Jr.
The Class of 2019 stud running back is returning to Baton Rouge for the first time since taking in some of the team’s spring practices. He is bringing his entire family for the visit, too, including both of his parents and his little sister.
The 6-foot, 194-pound tailback from Destrehan (La.) High School is already considered a top-100 prospect in next year’s recruiting class. He’s the No. 6 back in the 2019 class and a top-10 prospect in the state, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Emery made a handful of visits up I-10 to LSU for the team’s spring practices, where the coaching staff was selling him on eventually succeeding Derrius Guice in the backfield. Since then, the team added two 2018 running back commitments from Chris Curry and Tae Provens, and 2019 4-star back Tyrion Davis.
This marks a crucial visit for Emery, who is nowhere near making a college decision but is taking a look at some of the schools he’s most interested in. He has made multiple visits to LSU, which is a positive sign for the Tigers’ chances with the elite in-state running back.
