Joshua Moore is one of the nation’s top wide receiver prospects in the 2018 recruiting class. He just happened to grow up as a fan of LSU.
The 4-star wide receiver from IMG Academy (Fla.) released his top-10 schools on Tuesday, and fittingly, the Tigers made the cut.
The 6-foot-1, 160 pound Moore included LSU as well as Alabama, Texas, Texas A&M, Florida State, Ohio State, Oklahoma, UGA, Tennessee and Nebraska.
So how did the Tigers emerge as one of his top teams?
“I’d say it’s the love that they show me,” Moore told SEC Country. “It’s almost every day that I’m talking to a coach from the staff. About a week ago, I woke up to like 70 text messages from the staff telling me how much they want and need me, and one thing that is very important in my process is relationships. We definitely have that.”
A native of Yoakum, Texas, Moore is now preparing for his senior season in Florida. Both wide receivers coach Mickey Joseph and area recruiter Corey Raymond remain in regular communication with him.
Joseph and Raymond were among the slew of LSU coaches to flood Moore’s inbox with 70-plus text messages a few weeks ago.
Talks between Moore and LSU remain consistent, with the main messages centering around returning to campus and getting an even closer at the program.
“They want me to come up and spend at least two days with the staff and some of the former players just so I can get a feel for the environment,” he explained.
That visit is not scheduled at this point.
Moore has no timeline for a decision but will graduate from IMG in December. That means a pledge could come at some juncture in the fall before he enrolls at a college early.
