The San Francisco 49ers have new management, a new quarterback and possibly the best cornerback in the NFC West in Rashard Robinson. At least, that’s what pro-bowl linebacker Elvis Dumervil says.
“I think he can be the best corner in the division,” Dumervil told SFGate.com’s Eric Branch.
That’s a strong statement considering all-pro cornerbacks Patrick Paterson and Richard Sherman play in the NFC West with the 49ers. But even the mention of those names didn’t discourage Dumervil’s stance.
“That’s what I’m telling you,” Dumervil told SFGate.com. “I know who the corners are.”
As a rookie, Robinson was solid but not necessarily elite. He picked off one pass, deflected eight others and made 23 tackles.
The 49ers start their season against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, Sept. 10.
