Can Smylie Kaufman do for Natural Light what Matthew McConaughey did for Lincoln and Michael Jordan did for Gatorade?
Yes, that is a real sentence.
The former LSU golfer and current PGA Tour pro has signed an endorsement deal with the beer brand, according to ESPN sports business reporter Darren Rovell.

As the photo in the Tweet indicates, Kaufman takes his endorsement duties quite seriously and apparently isn’t doing it just for the paycheck.
Natural Light — popularly known as “Natty Light” because its quality is such that a formal name seems excessive — has been a college-fraternity-party and beer-pong staple for more than a generation. And though the members of Augusta National would likely blanch at the thought of such a plebeian drink ever being sipped underneath the dogwoods, the brand must think a young golfer like Kaufman can connect to its target audience.
The memorably named Kaufman lettered at LSU from 2010-14, finishing in the top 10 in nine of the 28 tournaments in which he played. He’s in his second year on the PGA Tour and was paired with Jordan Spieth for the final round of this year’s Masters before shooting a final-round 81 to fall to 29th place.
