NEVILLE, La. — Rashard Lawrence was quick to narrow his college choices down to two.
And now, it’s one.
The nation’s No. 5 defensive tackle committed to LSU over Ohio State Friday at Neville High School.
The 6-foot-3, 305-pound five-star prospect is five days removed from an official visit to LSU’s campus. Lawrence previously took his official visit to Ohio State on Oct. 17. He also officially visited UCLA on Oct. 3.
Both the Tigers and Buckeyes coaching staffs made stops with Lawrence on Wednesday leading up to his announcement.
Lawrence is the third defensive tackle prospect in LSU’s 2016 recruiting class along with fellow Louisiana natives Glen Logan (Destrehan, La.) and Edwin Alexander (Hammond, La.)
Lawrence will have to earn immediate playing time next season, as all four of LSU’s defensive linemen are set to return to the team. Still, Lawrence has a chance to crack the defensive line rotation as a true freshman.
He is also the second nationally renowned prospect to commit to the Tigers in the last 24 hours. Four-star offensive tackle Willie Allen committed to LSU on Thursday.
