The college football season isn’t even over yet and the coaching rumor mill is already turning.
A report published Tuesday morning from Nola.com’s James Smith saying that LSU has been in contact with Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher’s representatives. Fisher responded to the report on Tuesday night after practice. Here’s what he told reporters:
“I did [see the report] when I walked out of a meeting, had no idea. But here’s the thing: I’m not going to talk about any jobs. I love being at Florida State. I plan on being here and I’m just getting ready for Syracuse. That’s the last thing I’m going to say on that. No offense to anybody or anything else, that’s just what I’m going to do. I love being here.”
The report also cited numerous coaches who have worked with Fisher who believe he would take the LSU job for the right amount of money. He has experience at LSU as the offensive coordinator under Nick Saban on the Tigers’ 2003 National Championship team.
Ed Orgeron, who the report states is still in the running for the position, is 4-1 as LSU head coach after Les Miles was fired earlier in the season. LSU is ranked No. 16 in the Associated Press poll and plays host to No. 21 Florida this weekend. The No. 17 Seminoles play Syracuse on the road
