Deion Jones officially signed his rookie contract with the Atlanta Falcons this week. The deal is reportedly four years and worth $4.5 million.
Jones was taken in the second round in last week’s NFL Draft by the Falcons. He recorded 100 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss and five sacks during his senior season with the Tigers.
Jones was named one of LSU’s defensive MVPs for the 2015 season, along with defensive back Jamal Adams. Jones was also acknowledged as one of five finalists for the prestigious Butkus Award, given annually to the best linebacker in college football.
The Falcons hope Jones can be an immediate contributor to a rebuilding defense that finished 16th in the NFL last season in total defense with an average of 347.6 yards allowed per game.
