Former LSU star Odell Beckham Jr. gave a young fan an incredible memory. The New York Giants wide receiver went to Amarillo, Texas on Saturday to visit a 9-year-old boy that’s going through Malignant Rhabdoid Tumor.
According to SI reporter Chris Chavez, Beckham got a tweet on July 18 from Danny Richburg, the dad of Giants center Weston Richburg, who shared a post from a local radio personality’s request to help Jayro Ponce meet Beckham.
Beckham was all on board and asked “How could I make it happen?”
When OBJ made his way out there, Ponce was naturally ecstatic when he saw his favorite player stop by to get to know him.
“We were blessed to spend time with this amazing soul and his friend! There’s no words for this experience,” the Facebook page for Team Jayro read. “Thank you Make A Wish!”
Malignant Rhabdoid Tumor is a rare childhood tumor that typically begins in the kidneys but can also start in other soft tissues or in the brain. According to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, there are roughly 20 to 25 new cases of Malignant Rhabdoid Tumor diagnosed each year in the United States.
