The city of Baton Rouge could use a boost given everything it’s gone through recently, and former LSU women’s basketball player Seimone Augustus wanted to give it.
The U.S. women’s basketball team destroyed Spain 101-72 to win gold Saturday at the olympic games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. After the game, Augustus shared a selfie with her gold medal on Instagram, writing that she was wanted to win it for her hometown, Baton Rouge.
It’s a touching image for a city that has dealt with historic flooding over the last few weeks. Near the end of the caption, Augustus used the hashtag, “#ireptheboot,” referring to her home state of Louisiana.
The win gives the U.S. women their sixth straight gold medal at the Olympics.
