Former LSU star shortstop Alex Bregman made his major league debut with the Houston Astros last week, and he had gone hitless in his first 18 at-bats.
But the No. 2 overall pick in the 2015 MLB Draft ended that drought Sunday in fighting off an inside pitch that landed comfortably in center field during his third-inning at-bat.

The Houston dugout applauded for its third baseman, and Bregman even got a congratulatory hug from two-time AL MVP Miguel Cabrera.
It was Bregman’s only hit of the day, as he and his teammates fell to the Tigers 11-0.
