Tyrann Mathieu just got a major contract extension.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the Cardinals had reached a five-year deal that will pay the former LSU star and Heisman finalist about $12 million a year.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the deal is worth approximately $62.5 million, with $40 million guaranteed.

Mathieu was entering the final year of his rookie contract, which he signed in 2013. That deal was for four years and a little more than $3 million.
Mathieu had 17 passes defensed, including five interceptions, in 2015.
