History has shown there’s really no predicting what may happen when LSU and Auburn meet, yet we must make some attempt at telling you some things that might occur Saturday evening.
Here are five questions, in particular, to keep an eye on.
Will RT Toby Weathersby play?
Four starting offensive linemen left the Mississippi State game with injuries, but it appears Weathersby is the only one who is unlikely to play this week. I expect to see Maea Teuhema at right tackle in his place.
What’s the over-under on Arden Key sacks?
I’m setting the line at 1.5 sacks for Mr. Key against an offensive line that’s been abused by opposing linebackers and defensive ends this year.
Will either team break the 20-point barrier?
Maybe one of them. Certainly not both. Auburn ranks 10th in the SEC in scoring offense and LSU 11th. Auburn is 12th in turnover margin and LSU 13th. If this game wasn’t nationally televised it would have a shot at clocking in under three hours.
Will Leonard Fournette crack 200 yards for the second straight year?
I’m not personally going out on that limb. But I am going to say Fournette is going to cross the 150-yard barrier. I do think we will see somewhere in the neighborhood of 25-30 passes from Danny Etling, so Fournette will have to break a couple big runs to get there.
Put all your money on the Tigers.
Ha-ha, see because both teams are nam — anyway, get used to that joke because I’m using it again for Missouri next week.
But in seriousness, I like LSU by more than a field goal and less than a touchdown.
