ESPN released the times for its season-opening weekend of college football games on Thursday with the 2017 AdvoCare Texas game between No. 12 LSU and BYU set for 9:30 p.m. ET on Sept. 2 in NRG Stadium in Houston.
The game marks LSU’s first season opener under coach Ed Orgeron, who led the Tigers to a 6-2 record including a victory against Louisville in the Citrus Bowl after taking over for fired coach Les Miles.
The last time LSU opened the season the AdvoCare Texas game it defeated Wisconsin 28-24 in NRG Stadium in 2014.
LSU’s 25,000-ticket allotment would go on sale to the general public in June if it not sold out to season ticket holders and students.
The Tigers finished last year 8-4, 5-3 in the Southeastern Conference.
BYU finished 9-4 last season. The Cougars have two games against SEC teams this season, including a game Oct. 14 at Mississippi State.
ESPN opens its broadcast schedule with No. 1 Ohio State at Indiana on Aug. 31.
