While everyone around the LSU program has endured a difficult week following the loss to Wisconsin in the season opener, even speculation about quarterback changes and coaching staff shakeups pale in comparison to what the next opponent is battling.
Jacksonville State, the fifth-ranked team in the Football Championship Subdivision, will visit Baton Rouge this week to take on the Tigers while one of its members is hospitalized in Alabama with a bacterial infection that has him fighting for his life.
JSU coach John Grass told reporters during his weekly press conference that cornerback Keegan Hill is receiving treatment in a hospital in Birmingham, Ala.
“He is battling for his life right now and the family has been with him the whole time and we have tried to send someone every day,” Grass said. “When things like that happens, it brings everything in to perspective – we are playing a game. The guys were excited to play Thursday night, but a lot of their minds were on Keegan in the hospital. We pray for healing and that he would get back with us soon.”
