BEAVERTON, Ore. — Ja’Marr Chase will decide between LSU and TCU, but not on Sunday, July 2.
Chase, Louisiana’s No. 2 wide receiver in the 2018 recruiting class, has pushed back his commitment announcement until Monday, July 3. The Tigers and Horned Frogs remain his two finalists.
The 4-star wide receiver from Archbishop Rummel (La.) High School in New Orleans will have his commitment aired on NFL Network on the final day of Nike’s “The Opening” Finals in Oregon.
The choice was easy — with his family not making the trek to the Pacific Northwest, an announcement on TV allows them to tune in from Louisiana.
“I’m changing to the 3rd now, because I’m going to have TV and I want family to watch it,” Chase told SEC Country after Friday’s practice at Nike’s “The Opening” Finals in Oregon.
Chase, who measures up at 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds, is a priority target for the Tigers, who hold commitments from two wide receivers in their 2018 class, including Kenan Jones and Jaray Jenkins.
LSU holds 22 commitments, which ranks as the No. 3 class in the country and the best in the SEC, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
