LSU will cap its weekend with a very important visitor.
Speedy New Orleans wide receiver Jammal Houston is scheduled to make the short trip up I-10 West to Baton Rouge for an unofficial visit, Houston told SEC Country.
Houston most recently visited LSU for “Boys From The Boot” in mid-February after getting re-offered by the coaching staff as a wide receiver. In July, Corey Raymond extended him an offer as a defensive back.
The Tigers are among the early favorites for the 6-foot-2, 180-pounder from John Ehret (La.) High School along with Mississippi State, Auburn and Arkansas, among others. In all, Houston holds 24 offers after a very active summer and spring.
Houston is still recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered in the fall against Destrehan (La.) High School. He is expected to be cleared for spring football beginning next month.
Mickey Joseph is spearheading Houston’s recruitment. The 3-star wideout is planning on giving his verbal pledge a bit later this spring. LSU should be considered a very likely option.
The Tigers hold a commitment from one wide receiver in their 2018 recruiting class: Jaray Jenkins of Jena (La.) High School. They are expected to take as many as five in this cycle to help replenish the depth chart.
LSU also hosted Florida TE/DE Judge Culpepper on Friday and will host underrated Alabama offensive lineman Avery Winsett on Saturday. Salmen 3-star (La.) corner Eddie Smith was also expected to be on campus for Saturday’s scrimmage, but was forced to move the visit because of a scheduling conflict.
