The rivalry between Josh Norman and former LSU wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. continues to be hot.
Norman, the feisty Washington Redskins cornerback who spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Carolina Panthers, can’t help himself when it comes to Beckham. You’ll remember the two had an eventful confrontation when Beckham’s New York Giants hosted the Panthers last December.
Now it appears that Norman just can’t let go.
A story about Norman appears in ESPN The Magazine this month, and you can bet there’s mention of Beckham. Here’s more, courtesy of NFL.com’s Dan Hanzus:
“Everybody saw what he was,” Norman said, referring (once again) to the Dec. 20 game in which Beckham was charged with three personal fouls involving Norman. “People from around the league were coming up to me afterward and saying, ‘He does that crap all the time.’ He lost so much respect from people for that little tantrum.
“I’ve already got a couple people telling me, ‘OK, I’ve got a hit out on him.’ It’s going to be rough for him this year. And he brought it on himself.”
Beckham has totaled 2,755 yards receiving in just two seasons, so it’s hard to envision the former Tigers standout having a rough time this fall as long as he can stay healthy. If he can stay on the field, look for him to threaten his career-high totals of 1,450 yards receiving and 13 touchdowns last year.
It should be fascinating to see if more sparks fly with Norman and Beckham scheduled to play each other twice this season.
