In what is typical for LSU recruiting, several of the Tigers’ junior commits and targets were named All-Americans by MaxPreps.
Two of LSU’s 2018 commits, 5-star cornerback Kelvin Joseph and 4-star safety Caden Sterns, were named to the First-Team Defensive squad.
Joseph, one of LSU’s earlier pledges in the junior class, helped Scotlandville (La.) High to the Division I state championship. Sterns, the first commit after Ed Orgeron took over as LSU’s head coach, also helped Steele (Texas) High to the title game.
Also cracking the list was 5-star LSU defensive back target Pat Surtain Jr. The American Heritage (Fla.) standout helped his team capture a championship this past season. He has long been a Tigers lean given his ties to Louisiana and relationship with defensive backs coach Corey Raymond.
Teradja Mitchell was named to the list as well. The 5-star linebacker from Virginia is the top-ranked prospect at his position in the 2018 cycle. He added his offer from LSU in April. He referred to LSU as his favorite college football team.
5-star Louisiana wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. cracked the second-team offensive unit. Marshall, who camped at LSU in July but won’t make his college decision until National Signing Day in 2018, boasts a fantastic relationship with assistant coach Dameyune Craig and made several unofficial stops in Baton Rouge his junior season.
