Les Miles invited teenage cancer patient to attend Auburn game
LSU coach Les Miles helped create the day of a lifetime for Tigers fan Sid Ortis, a teenager who was diagnosed with cancer in August 2014. Miles invited Ortis to take in LSU’s 45-21 win over Auburn last Saturday in the coaches’ box.
The Birmingham, Ala,. native connected with LSU’s coach when Miles surprised Ortis with a phone call in March, according to an article by AL.com’s Carol Robinson.
“Sid and I have spoken and he’s a fighter and a very, very quality man,” Miles said during an SEC teleconference. “I was fortunate to have him at the game and come over there during pregame and spend a moment with him. He’s a hero, that guy right there is very special.”
Ortis was able to watch Leonard Fournette’s historic performance on Saturday. He even had a special moment with the coach on the field.
Ortis was treated to a phenomenal game and gave the experience a rave review.
